Welcome back

Okay, with a little support from an old friend, I am going to start blogging again...this is probably the fifth or sixth time I've started this blog, only to delete the posts because I just assumed they sucked. Maybe they do, but it's summer and I have a bit of time on my hands, so here goes...


O and I leave tomorrow for the wilds of New Jersey to visit family for about 10 days. I am really looking forward to the trip - I get back there once a year at most these days - and O will visit NYC for the first time! I'm thinking we'll go to the American Museum of Natural History with my longtime pal, Jilleyn, and her totally adorable daughter. They have an exhibit called "Mythic Creatures" that seems taylor-made for little ones (mermaids, unicorns, dragons - cool!). We will also "go down the shore" - as is said in Jersey (it's still hard for me to say shore since I grew up by the beach until moving to NJ) - most likely Point Pleasant (the boardwalk was a big hit last summer). I also plan to eat lots of food while in NJ - pizza, bagels, Italian, sushi, Indian...you get the idea.

Okay, now that I've got this blog going again, it's late and I'm sleepy. I plan to update this blog daily, if possible, while in NJ so those of you who are interested can follow along during the vacation. Hope you enjoy! Oh, and please send good vibes for the weather so we don't get stuck in Chicago. And wish me luck - I'm traveling with a three-year-old...
